Ice cores from mountain glaciers can provide a regional perspective on climate history, albeit shorter. They can be challenging to drill and challenging to interpret. Our role in these project has been to characterize the site, predict the age of the ice, and make sure we understand the key physical processes happening as snow turns into ice.
