Explore Coastal Alaska: Girls on Water 2017

Alaska has more coastline than any other state in the U.S., with an incredible diversity of rich coastal ecosystems. In spreading the philosophy of Girls on Ice, it was only natural to move from the mountains to the sea. As a team of oceanographers, marine biologists, and kayakers, we are developing several new Girls on Water expeditions. Each will explore the connections between art and science in remote coastal environments in Alaska by sea kayak and on foot.  Working with local science centers and labs, our first programs will launch from the beautiful southeast and southcentral Alaskan coasts.  As our kayaks glide through the coastal waters, we will be experiencing an incredible abundance of both sea life and terrestrial life and our girls will come away with a deeper understanding of the connections between sea and land and the role that we play in its future. We are in a strong fundraising and planning phase right now.  Please let us know if you would like to support and stimulate these new programs directly, through a gift of funding, equipment, volunteering, or anything else. We can earmark your gift for the new Girls on Water Expeditions.
